China plans to strengthen cooperation with European Union countries next year as part of its desire to strengthen and diversify its alliances, even at the expense of its trade relationship with the United States, news reports said Monday, citing diplomatic sources.
The sources pointed out that one of the indicators of the improvement of the relationship between Beijing and Brussels is the signing of China on the index to improve and protect 100 regionally specific products, on the great American pressure on China not to sign because of its impact on US exports.
Trade tensions between the United States and China have escalated following mutual tariffs, raising global concerns about a trade war between the world’s two most powerful economies that could have a negative impact on global economic growth.
