A spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Environment said on Tuesday that the United Nations Biodiversity Summit scheduled for China in October will be held in May next year due to the Corona virus pandemic.
“The summit was scheduled to be held in Kunming, Yunnan, from October 15 to 28, but due to the outbreak of the Coruna virus, preparations were generally postponed,” Liu Yuebin, a spokesman of the Ministry of Environment, told a press briefing.
About 200 countries will negotiate the text of a new global biodiversity treaty during the two-week summit beginning May 17, 2021.
