PRAGUE (Reuters) – Authorities in the Czech Republic said they had recorded 168 new cases of the new corona virus on Friday, the highest daily rate the country has seen since early April with the start of the country’s two-month summer vacation season.
This is also the fourth consecutive day during the past ten days, witnessing a daily increase of more than 100 cases. According to the official website of the Ministry of Health, the eastern Karvina region is the most regions that witness this rise in the numbers of cases.
Friday is the last school day for children and students whose families are preparing for the holidays, as most Czechs spend them in the country rather than traveling abroad because of fears of the spread of the virus and restrictions on travel.
The government had gradually lifted most restrictions on companies, with the exception of wearing masks in enclosed spaces and restrictions on working hours in bars and large cultural events. She said she would focus on local quarantine, virus tracking and testing procedures, rather than imposing general isolation measures in the future.
By Saturday morning, the number of cases in the country was 11,038, including 349 deaths.
