RIYADH (Reuters) – The Group of Twenty launched an international initiative on Sunday to accelerate access to health tools needed to combat the emerging coronavirus.
“The group is still working to bridge the financing gap to combat this pandemic, which is estimated at eight billion dollars,” said Mohammed Al-Jadaan, the Saudi finance minister and current president of the Group of Twenty.
Al-Jadaan added in a statement inaugurating the initiative to “accelerate access to the health tools of the Coved 19-pandemic”.
He added that “the international community still faces uncertainty over the depth and duration of this health crisis.”
Saudi Arabia pledged this month to provide $ 500 million to support international efforts to combat the Corona Virus pandemic. In the statement, it reiterated its call to all countries, non-governmental organizations, charitable organizations and the private sector to contribute to bridging the financing gap
