WASHINGTON (Reuters) – US President Donald Trump said on Saturday he would impose tariffs on imports of crude oil or take other measures if he had to, to protect energy workers from falling oil prices.”If I have to impose customs duties on oil from abroad or if I have to do something to protect … tens of thousands of energy workers and our great companies that produce all of these jobs, I will do all that is necessary,” Trump said during a daily meeting with reporters about the outbreak of the Corona virus.Oil prices fell significantly after the pandemic led to a sharp decline in demand and with Russia and Saudi Arabia increasing their production in a war over obtaining a market share. After meeting executives of major oil companies on Friday, Trump said he was not considering imposing tariffs at the moment, but it was one of the tools he might use.
