According to the official Tunisian News Agency, the central bank’s board of directors decided on Friday to keep the main interest rate unchanged at 7.75 percent.
“The gradual improvement, which the most important monetary and financial indicators have known, remains fragile and must be strengthened,” the council said after its regular meeting.
The central bank raised interest rates in February to 7.75 percent from 6.75 percent in an effort to contain inflation that hit record highs.
