The European Central Bank member and Governor of the Bank of Germany, Jens Weidmann, said that the German economy is not going through an economic crisis, stressing that he did not reject the expansionary policy, but wants to have clear limits. He also pointed out that the current interest rate is near the lower levels.
The comments, which support his earlier comments that the monetary easing should be limited to exceptional circumstances only. This contributes to the view that Weidmann appears to be against the ECB’s decision to cut interest rates on deposit and launch the bond purchases program again in November.
