China regrets US withdrawal from Paris climate agreement

China regrets the United States’ decision to inform the United Nations of its formal withdrawal from the Paris climate agreement, said a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman, adding that China hopes Washington will take more responsibility and do more to contribute to the international cooperation process.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a statement that his country had begun the process of withdrawing from the Paris Agreement, and in accordance with the terms of the Convention, the United States officially informed the United Nations of its withdrawal from the Convention, and this step comes into effect after a year of reporting.
