GENEVA (Reuters) – The World Health Organization (WHO) said on Tuesday that there is a “very significant acceleration” in the number of Coronavirus infections in the United States and that the country could turn into a new outbreak center.
WHO spokeswoman Margaret Harris told reporters that 85 percent of new cases in the past 24 hours were in Europe and the United States and 40 percent were in the United States.
Asked if the United States would become a new disease center, Harris said, “We now see a very large acceleration in caInjury to the United States, so that possibility exists. ”
“They are facing (the United States) a very large outbreak, an increasingly severe outbreak.”
She said that the virus outbreak in general is increasing very rapidly and expected a significant increase in the number of infections and deaths, from its current rate of 334,981 cases and 14,510 deaths.
